Interesting take on the challenge. I have seen yard art like this before. I think you have great DoF and the way the "tree" is leaning helps the composition by bringing the viewer through the shot.

i like the bw but the composition seems a little static to me. perhaps a closer crop and a point of view different than just "straight on" would make it more interesting and show the relevance to the challenge quicker. i do commend you, however, for finding a subject without involving water. :P
