Challenge: Framing (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 4500
Location: Petach Tikva, Israel
Date: Aug 27, 2004
Aperture: 9.4
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/8
Galleries: Still Life
Date Uploaded: Aug 28, 2004

The sculptures were made from ceramics by me a few years ago, and they are presented at my parents house.

The picture was cropped to leave only the sculptures in it. Also auto contrast and auto levels were applied to fix the original colors of the indoors illumination, and the border was added.

I gave this a 9 as it I thought it fit the challenge very well and it was a very interesting shot with excellent DOF and fine detail in the foreground subject. Super! Congrats on your finish...wish it had been higher. With regards to the shot with the rear subject in focus, I like this better and think the angle better on this with regards to the further subject...too much table in the other.

I gave it a six, I think the cropping could have been a little tighter maybe on the right side. It's a very nice photo though, 27 out of 307 isn't bad :)

Well, You don't have to LOVE everything. LIKE is just fine by me :-)
Thanks a lot!

This is the winner for me. The foreground holds your interest as does the subject matter in the background. This challenge calls for juxtaposition and you have achieved this beautifully, curiously and majestically.

Really nice job. I'm not sure if you could have had better DOF but the colors and composition are excellent!

A very original and interesting take on the challenge. Great colors and textures but the composition of this shot is what makes it special. It's very striking and very well done.

Very good shot. Great texture and lighting and the contrasts in colors is superb. Perhaps the cropping on the right is a bit too tight?
I have looked at this photo a few times and I think it is the best in the challange.

Super idea! The lighting (and the framing) and the focus really works for me on this one. I'd have been tempted to crop a bit tighter though, if it was mine. An 8.

I like the composition of this image..very well thought out. The fact that the background figure is of a brighter colour helps enormously to make the picture work.
Absolutely perfect for the challenge.....bumping up to 9

This is a very nice photo, but I think the foreground became the subject since the focus is there. Still, very nice.

I think this is an excellent photo, well composed and well thought out. Except for one major detail! In this type of photo, I think that the object your framing should be in focus. Think about it, what is the point of a frame? To accent the subject contained within the frame, not to show off a nice frame. This is excellent, but with a little more care it could be spectacular. Nonetheless I'm still giving you a 10 cause i love it.
