Challenge: Close Your Eyes (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Olympic Coast, WA, USA
Date: Mar 24, 2012
Aperture: f10
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/50 sec
Date Uploaded: Mar 29, 2012

The title comes from the fact that seconds after shooting this frame I got hit really hard by a wave coming in from the left :-/
So I was in a pretty place when I shot this no doubt. My idea was to walk blindly toward the water (looking like a total idiot) with the autofocus set to auto point selection and snap whenever I could here waves splashing against the rocks. I got some nice splashes and sense of peril in some frames. But in the end, this frame with that tongue of water reaching out was the most interesting to me.
I had 74 images on my card when I left this beach. I finished off the additional captures to 100 in a rain forest where I got lots of nice green. Still, this image was the most interesting to me.
The selection of advanced editing instead of minimal seemed a little odd to me for this topic (not that I'm a fan of minimal without some latitude for cropping the aspect ratio at least). But given that it was allowed I processed this image as I would any other advanced topic image.

Marvelous shot under any circumstances. You must have been thrilled to get it with eyes closed. Did you get wet? Did your camera get wet? 9

I couldn't have composed it better with my eyes open.

Certainly beautiful. While this may have been taken with the eyes closed, I'm not sure this was taken in the spirit of the challenge, as it would appear you knew where you were going, and where you were pointing the image before closing your eyes and snapping. Seems very intentional. Anyhow, for this reason I'm not voting, even though I really enjoy the image.

"Looks staged", but i also had the idea of "go somewhere cool, walk around and just take random pictures, hopefully something cool comes out of it" which i think is what you did here.
Apparent that it's not a long exposure given the distinction of the water near the rocks. Definitely an interesting image :)
