 Not a bad challenge entry, I think. My first outtake was a bit different from this, couldn't get the shot I wanted... so moved around the house with the lens on, looking through the viewfinder... saw this.
It's a decorative bamboo stick, almost the same color as our walls. Granted, the color is actually altered a little due to the WB setting on my camera, but this actually made it "pop" rather than look flat.
Let's see how this one does, since it's a last minute entry, as I am going out of town for the weekend and won't be back to enter the challenge over the weekend

Too much background, but I like the detail in the bamboo - sort of critter-face like.

Nice details in the bamboo. I like the lighting. I like the colour too. Tighter crop woulda been nice, as they mentioned below. Nice photo

without reading the other comments, i'll guess someone may have mentioned crop already. i think a tighter, rotated crop would have helped a lot here

A bit 'snapshotty' IMVHO, love the idea though, perhaps a tighter crop or macro of the joint (if you have the lens for it), a tripod might help too ;)

The background is quite dull. Doesn't bamboo grow like mad? What about trying layers upon layers of bamboo- just a thought :)

I find the concept here interesting, but the photo only so-so. I think it's mainly the crop, too much nothingness for this in my opinion.
