Updating as the score was at 7.4 :)
Shot this on way home from work after a long day where a footing we were digging collapsed so I'd had a crap day but luckily grabbed my small camera bag and tripod in the morning, so I had my 5d and my l's but no accessories which is annoying having like 3-4 cable releases or remotes. So had to shoot this on 30 second exposures then combine them to get the full light trail.
So the pictured road connects Edale to the world and cuts through about 200 ft from the summit of mammtor, so I dumped the truck and ran up to the summit which was hard as I'd forgot I still had my steel toe caps boots on lol. Got there set up and started shooting and then realised I had 8 shots left on a 16gb card doh!
Deleted a few, framed the shot did a few test shots then waited for a car which took about 15 mins, it's not a busy rd then the said car must have been hijacked by a snail as it took a full minute to cover the 400-500 metres seen here hence the need for two exposures.
Combined them in photoshop just brought the light trails through on a layer mask, then used silver efex bw, duplicated a layer and silver efexed again to get more detail in the shadows. Then used a layer mask on 5% opacity and brushed in the detail I wanted. Bear_music suggested the more shadow detail and yo_spiff confirmed I'd chosen the right pic from my choices, had a nice one of a fly fisherman over lake but was shot on 20d and lacked shadow detail.
Hope this stays above 7 as that's my main goal 2012 :)
