 had this idea from the start based on a nspcc advert that ran for a while,

no caleb was harmed during the taking of this picture on the outtake shots hes laughing on every one which was the struggly to get a 3 yr old to strike a miserable abandoned pos hehe.

1 strobe right with shoot through umbrella about 1 metre away, pocketwizards

nik silver efex antique plate, sharpen in ps, export for web

Ha, glad I didnt enter the only shot I took for this challenge - while doing a photoshoot for a friend and her three year old daughter, I had the daughter stand by herself with a teddy hanging by her side and "look sad"... the result was about 10 smirk photos, where she was trying not to smile, and one overly dramatic soap opera style sad expression haha. She didnt understand, she's always told to smile for the camera?? Your's turned out MUCH better than mine haha well done

Could be in a poster. Great image. Those 5s hurt ya. Not much trolling going on. But this was definitely not a meh image.

only had two tens this challenge... this was one of them. can't believe this didn't ribbon. perhaps voters felt it was too much heartache, neglect, morally wrong?
it was a genius photo and very well processed. conveyed loneliness completely!

Not sure why it got hit hard, maybe ppl thought it was a contender was at 6.9 upto about 40 votes. Not sure what tiny and cuttooth wanted, did they want me to lock my boy up for a week to make it more real? Shoot was great fun leb was laughing and smiling all the way through :) try again next time but I'll take the 3 favourites :) thanks for the comments and votes

A little dark but just because I am greedy and want to examine every detail -- otherwise the tones suit the mood here very well. Excellent expression and I love the hanging stuffed animal. 10

This picture gives me the chills, it says so much and I think you did an excellent job in catching the raw emotion of this challenge . It freaks me out to know that there are children that go through terrible , horrible things like this image has captured . 10

This is such a sad and emotional shot. The title emphasizes that fact. The lighting is perfectly executed. It's almost like he's unwanted, locked in a basement. The expression on his face is great... the stance, the way he's holding the teddy bear (?). It's all perfectly done! 10
