My first portrait! Had a lot of fun doing this shot, and was not as easy as I thought it would be, given just one light source and working in the dark.

Thanks for all the votes and comments! This site is very addictive...

Here is a different "godfather". My father in law drove 45mins dressed up in his best suit to take this picture. He's the sweetest man you will ever meet, and I had a hard time getting the smile off his face, and act like a tough guy. :)

Your first portrait, your first ribbon and your new PB... I like both portraits but I prefer the lighting on the one you chose. Great work, Werner.

Thank You very much! :) I tried to decipher "PB", but I can't think of anything. What does it mean? :)

Personal Best.

Congrats on the ribbon!
I can't believe after getting your father in law to drive out for the shoot you didn't choose that image! Both would have ribboned I expect.

Image invokes the feel of the film for anybody upon even a glance. Good job with the image. It's dark enough to obscure the true identity of the individual and surroundings with enough light to enhance the duality/hidden nature of the type of individual portrayed in these films.

Nice! Most of the time, the dark shadows would be horrible on an image, but here... IT WORKS!
The image is nicely composed. I like that it is not completely centered, the slight imbalance works to the photo's advantage. The tones are perfectly done. The image is perfectly executed! I LOVE IT! A favorite of the challenge, for sure. 10 all the way!

Love the lighting on this, and now it's time for a Godfather marathon!

One of the best images of this challenge. Just a little too dark IMHO
