Hi. I am brand-new to this site. I have several photos that could fit this theme, but I don't want to submit anything outside the rules.
Can I submit more than one entry?
Does the pic have to be taken between certain dates, or simply before a certain date?
I'll have more questions, but that is a start. :) |

Only one entry and the photo has to be taken after the challenge is announced.
Here's a link to the basic editing rules. It should answer most questions you have. :-)

Yes but the photo has to be taken after the start date...nevermind beat me to it Hahaa...

Right. You gotta take the picture after the challenge is announced and before the submissions close. The time/date reference is USA Eastern time. If you don't take the picture until you've read the description on-site, you can't be too early, but be SURE the time/date clock is correct on your camera. And be SURE you copy the original, preferably by drag/drop copy to new folder, and only work on the copy. If you modify the original during download/processing, the image can't be validated.

Hmmm. I don't know how involved I can be with those restrictions. I certainly don't mean any offense, but such short notice doesn't fit my busy life very well.
On the other hand, you folks have some really good stuff here. And I am always looking to grow photographically. A little bit of involvement might be better than none. I'll just have to hang out a bit more (and do some more lurking).
Are there any themes/contests that are more open? i.e able to pull from my files? |

I think I will stay away from the perspective challenges, LOL.
My first entry on DPChallenge..
Perspective IV -  - 5.1152
and my 93rd entry..
Perspective V -  - 5.2089
The challenge is to "Use perspective to create a dramatic effect with your photograph. "Perspective" doesn't have to be the lens' perspective, but can be the subject's perspective. We have other challenges for the technical side of perspective...

If you pay to join the site ($25/year) then you can enter monthly Free Studies. These Free Studies require that the image be captured during the calendar month, so they are more wide open. All our other challenges are based on a 1-week timetable; that's why they are "challenges", see? The idea is to push people into action, so to speak. Lots of folks here are only able to enter every now-and-then because real life gets in the way, like in your case.

| I am thrilled to be a part of the DPchallenge! Looking for something with perspective should be fun. I am such a beginner, I need to look up the term to understand what it means. I'll look back over past perspective challenges as well. Thanks for posting those! |
