| Just reviewed my goals from last year and was considering setting my goals for the new year... but there's no thread for 2010 goals... so here it is... let's have them. |

Been thinking about those, several of these are carried forward from '09:
-Get a 7 in any challenge
-Get a "love it or hate" it shot, with the voting breakdown showing a valley in the 5's
-Don't enter just to have something to enter. If I don't care for it, it should not be entered
-If I enter something low scoring it should be intentional, aimed at appealing to a narrow group
-Pull my average up to a 5.5.

I'd like to enter at least one challenge per month - more would be good, but when I reviewed last year I only entered 3 challenges - !!!
I'd like to complete (as in one image per day) three side challenges - again more would be good. I know I truly feel fabulous when I fully complete a side challenge.
I'd like to win a ribbon - it's been a few years here and I think it's time.
I'd like to have an average of 6 - GRIN!
Late Edit - just joined the POW - I MUST complete this challenge - one photo per week for the year - titled ...

1. Increase my avg score to 5 or above within few months.
2. Do lots of photography with the challenge topics in mind.
3. Get some photos which score in top 20 and then top 10. (earlier two attempts were in bottom 10) |

Guess I should post mine:
- have a photo do better than 7.0 in a challenge
- gift a membership to a deserving non-member
- win a DPC Blue and/or Red ribbon
- make 500+ useful comments (Benchmark: Made:624; Useful:557)
- participate in each of the 2010 Free Studies
- keep my average vote received for 2010 above 5.75
ETA: comment benchmark.

- Get a 6+ in any challenge.
- My avg score to 5+.
- Learn Photoshop and do some good editing.
- Buy good lens (If I can afford)
- Work towards becoming a professional photographer.
- After getting 6+ score: Getting in to top 20.
- After top 20: Getting into top 10
- After top 10: Ribbon :)

My only goal is to slowly ween myself off the update button because I am going to give up the blue shirt in June and move on. DPC has lost too many of the things I enjoyed about it. I actually thought this way last year and decided to give it one more go. But this year I am convinced that it is not worth the money any longer. I can get more joy out of spending that 25 dollars on my kids.

- win at least 3 DPC ribbon (Blue, Red, Yellow)
- make 1000+ comments useful for the users
- participate in each of the 2010 Free Studies
- participate in more challenges
- raise as much as possible my average
but more important: have fun with all of you and with our passion! |

DPC 2010 Goals:
1. Play with no lines inside the sharp sky.
2. Paint in your brave eyes my finest picture.
3. Fold the cold cubicle. Bend the walls.
4. Exposure to the wet bottom of a drinking glass.
5. Touch the loneliness of your face.
6. Be inside your movie, the killer in a soft gray suit touching the fancy fringe of your shadow.
7. Breathe through a mask of hay.
8. Lease a merrily summarily summery lissome aerie.
9. Circumscribe your depth and reach.
10. Let that tree be next to that rock next to that stream right where i left it an all those same figs in they constellation fixed.

1) Have a higher average at the end of the year (6.0282)
2) Make 20000+ votes (22092)
3) Make 1000+ comments (2702)
4) Top 10 in a Free Study
5) Get better at portraits

| You know, I have often thought of reasoning out goals and then applying the proper logistics to achieve them. But I have always found that following the course of the day seems to work out better in the long run. Yes, I would love to improve my average vote received (indicating I am better only at pleasing the DPC community) but more importantly I feel that the proper goal to set is to come closer to the center of the comfort zone - regardless of what others think. It is my comfort after all anyway, isn't it? And if I am in the zone, whether others approve or not, then what I am producing is more pleasing to me and I am the one who has to live with producing the images and their longevity. Even if that longevity is only within my realm. |
