I am looking at doing a valentines day photo shoot (with some cute SIMPLE props, thinking about including a cute little puppy - but thats irrelevant to the topic i suppose!). The original idea was to do this shoot at a recreation center - problem is - its $50 per hour. I just want the shots to be quick in & out shots, parents put in an order form, and thats that. HOWEVER, that meaning roughly 15 mins per child - i did this before with easter photo shoot, and on average each parent bought about $60 worth of prints. Not much b/c i understand not alot of people are ready to pay a huge amount for a tiny photo session. For easy math - lets say $50, thats $200 per hour minus $50 for cost of place, and another $30 for assistants, let alone print supply costs - shipping, etc. So in the end i'm making what 50$ an hour. Not that great considering the cost of equipment and everything - you guys know. LET ALONE NO SHOWS !! So it wouldn't be worth doing for $50 an hour i dont think.
SO IDEA #2 WAS: What if i could get an elementary school allow me to do it at their school in the evening, or over the weekend. I charge $10 with free print. This could be a great fundraising op for the school , as I will allow them to keep all or most of the $10 for fundraising (since i would have no overhead costs of location) -this also will bring in ALOT of business, since the school will pass out flyers and all of that good stuff.
So any ideas or suggestions for either option?
Main question is - does anyone know how to go about landing this photo shoot in a school ??
