The family event advice is DEAD ON :D
I can't stand being seen as 'the photographer' by my family. I hate it. If I do, for whatever reason, take some shots for fun, then all of a sudden all I deal with are the demands to "make me a print, make this a print, get me prints". I sometimes consider selling all my camera gear just to get away from the idiocy. |

Well, i have a rule i try to stick to for all family events and that is to get so drunk i can barely talk let alone hold a camera so i don't usually have this problem. |

Looks like someone doesn't care for HDR/Photoshop/macros/self-portraits/cats or much else...so after work today better shoot a self-portrait with a cat then PS the crap out of it so it looks HDR. Nyaah. |

Some people aren't happy unless they're unhappy. Those that excel at this aren't happy until they make those around them unhappy. |

The first one on the list was don't bring your camera to family events or basically events where you want to enjoy them instead of taking pictures, I have been doing this since I started my business. I bring it but leave it in the car so I don't have to photograph the whole event.
SPOT ON!!! |

It's not the equipment you have, but how you use it.
If I had $157,000 I'd love to have a 50MP Hasselblad H3DII, a fully customized Profoto lighting system and every filter and gadget known to man. But guess what, your photos can still suck (they just suck with more detail).
HAHAHAHAHA |

I think there's a lot of truth in that site. It's funny. And I think his portfolio is kinda fun, too. |

Isn't that a Ken Rockwell quote?
ETA: Anyone who says "bokeh = depth of field = blur" is wrong. The funny stuff on the site is ...funny, but the serious stuff is crap. HDR is wrong? Bokeh is blurriness? C'mon!
