Anyone know what kind of goose this is?
I'm used to seeing Canada geese all the time, but this is the first time I've seen this breed in.

I believe a Toulouse Goose

Don't look like a Toulouse Goose to me. It doesn't have that flabby "never done a sit-up in my life" type of low-hanging belly.
It looks more like a Pink-footed Goose Anser brachyrhynchus, which is supposed to e found in eastern Greenland, in Iceland and in Svalbard. Where did you take this shot exactly?

| I would say it's a Toulouse Goose it's not a pink footed goose, because the beak is mostly orange and pink's are not that orange. It is a domestic bird and not a wild or migratory type. We have always called these farm geese because that's the only place you see them, normally |

Are ya an ornithologist-wannabe or something? ;-) Or do you just like bird watching? ;-) LOL Oh yeah, now I remember yer a Park Ranger. Thank god you are on DPC to help us id our birds..LOL

I think this is the same kind of goose; he bears a strong resemblance in the "furry" appearance of the neck rather than feathery. Pinkish feet, too. But, I'm about as far away from Greenland as it gets. I have no clue, but he is different than the other geese at our local park that day (more photos in portfolio "Around Greenville").

| Could it be an immature white fronted goose? Habitat:tundra during breeding season. Winters regularly in the western US, particularly in the central valley of California. |

Sorry everyone, my post got cut short. I saw this goose in Harriman State Park, 40 miles north of New York City. There were two, and one looked larger with a more "muscular" bill.

that was my guess...taken out of my bird book :)
Actually a lot of these geese are not one breed but a mixed breed of some sort. There are quite a few by me that are different from all the photos I look at...I can't seem to identify any of them.
