Does anyone know which IR remote works with the D70? Is it the ML-L3?

yes. And it's on backorder to heck and back again.
Apparenlty it's been on back order since December in some cases.
Clara- which sucks when you are trying to get one. :)

ML-L1 works also, and is about half the price.
Edit: and you can probably find one. :-)

Stumbled across this. TV remote control (this guy had a Tihao(?)) and found that the Sanyo TV code worked. Pressing button 1,5, or 7. The code was stated as 163. worth a shot. Doesn't work on my 2 VERY old remotes.
Also this if you have a PC programable remote. PC remote for d70

I bought my remote at Competitive Camera in Dallas, TX. You may want to give them a call.

Slightly off-topic:
Is the IR remote for the D70 a decent substitute for a cable release? (as one is not available..) Does it have to have direct line of sight with the sensor?

I haven't measured...but will, but you can be off to the side (less than 30 degrees) on the right. Left is blocked by the lens.
It is a direct line of site. Or like I do at home, bounce it off mirrors, and walls. I should try that too.
Compettive Camera, eh. Must be the only ones in the country. 2 things I want are all backordered...A WhiBal card(s) and the tiny remote...soon. Thanks for the info.
