In support of our member AmeedEl-Ghoul who is on the path to a life without cigarettes - I propose the following challenge.

I Quit

Take an image that represents the moment or motivation that helped you decided to kick your addiction or bad habit.

I thought about it and i really do not have any bad habit. (or habit that could be conceived bad in social norm).
I never smoked, i never touched alcohol or beer or wine. I do not even play video games and waste my time. (the only game i have ever played on computer is chess, because i could finish game faster with computer compared to if i played with people).

I always had this principle that I would not do anything that i can not tell my parents. So never had any bad habits.

Only bad habit if it classifies as bad is that i have too much dedication for whatever i do. So when i start doing a thing (for example say painting, studying) I over do it.
For example I studied enough maths before i entered college that i did not learn anything new in my engineering maths class. (so i studied almost 20 maths books that were not in my school course).

This one challenge i would not participate. I think.
:-D :-D

zxaar CONGRATULATIONS on being so strong - for those who may be struggling with thinking of what they think is a habit/addiction - a list
05/14/2009 06:03:47 PM · #11
Simply put, I think its a great idea for a challenge...
05/14/2009 06:16:23 PM · #12
Sounds like an interesting challenge. I've been quit for 8 1/2 years, and had some very strong motivation.

you remember you said - when your kid looked at you smoking .....
This is crux of what i wrote just in reverse order. As a kid i could really never do anything that if my father found out might not be proud of. I always feared that if i did something how will i see my parents in their eyes. (if I lied to them).

I enjoyed a lot in my life though, but not these things. I would rather go out and play. Or rather than playing vedio games.

Good luck for your quest, i wish everyone learn to put his/her energy to something useful. We humans have lot of potential. We need to chanel our energy to correct places. Isn't it.
Best of luck, I hope rather than ciggaratte you would have some creative addiction.

I really think it is a wonderful idea, to present things we don't like in life and quiting them.
Btw guys, you don't really need to have a bad habit to participate, use your imagination ;)

Loads of possibilities with this one:

Quit:
Smoking
Drinking
Eating unhealthy foods
Procrastinating
Television
Texting
Work

etc.

Half or more of the entries would have something to do with that * "Update" button thing.

I think I've pretty much followed the same principle, but I have a feeling my parents might be somewhat different from your folks ... ;-)

Procrastinating

I'm a true expert in the field, and I believe I could actually (finally) ribbon with this theme, except I'd never get it shot and submitted in time ... :-(

I wish you all the best.

Yep - wish you good luck. :>)

For cryin out loud - your entry wouldn't have to about about you anyway - take a photo of a friend who is trying to quit or stage something - use your friggin imagination. Save yourself as a subject for the upcoming Walk On Water challenge.

iamwoman Congratulation, you did it,

Am I stating the obvious (probably) to point out that the challenge description says nothing about addiction? Hopefully other forms of "quitting" (i.e., quitting a job) won't be considered DNMC.
