I have placed some "sky"-photo's in my portfolio. Any comments anyone?

Left to right:

1. Good choice of big sky versus slim base line; strong cloud placement in surrounding neg. space. The sky, however, appears unnaturally dark toward the right top of the image, while overly bright near the horizon on the left. Light's nice in the narrow foregound (centre), some features however remain ambiguous due to their infinitesimal size and shadows.

2. Again, not a bad composition of given elements in the image. I would prefer to see a clear choice of a single strong perspective over the inclusion of all the man-made structures/objects to invite a more contrasted/comparative angle, even, say, a tilted camera angle with a diagonal windmill or horizon or anything matching the natural imposition of the cloud. The graduated filter is too strong to be credible too, IMO.

3. Quite a satisfying capture with the best balance of the four. Beautiful diagonal of the line of bare trees subtly intersecting the image. I would consider cropping (or cloning out) the few branches of the invisible tree on the very right and lopping off a little on the very left of the image to emphasize the natural thirds offering themselves here. While the exposure is quite good on the chaussée and the forest in the background, both sky and part of the road are a little blown (highlights).

4. The clouds's highlights, again, are blowing out much potential detail, which I'd consider essential to this shot. The mill, ideally, could be more advantageously placed (a bit more to the left and away from the edge) for a more generous and easy composition (the lay of the land, IMO, suggests this), while a greater proximity to it could reveal some textural detail (potentially) missed here. The lush greens, however, are pronounced and quite delicious.

I am very grateful to you Zeuszen for giving me such elaborate comments on the different images. I had a try-out with some polarizing filters and I somewhat liked the dramatic effects it gave. However, one must be careful of not overdoing it.

Your comments were vey helpful and I will try to improve where-ever I can in the future. Thank you.

Looking through your portfolio, I found some nice work. I really liked the 'Blonde from next Door', but then again, I like brunettes too and don't really mind walking a block or two. ;-)
