I didnt see a thread for this so I thought I'd start one.
This seems like a fun one. I have and idea for my shot, but I need some good weather for it, and right now it's supposed to rain all week :( Luckily, I think my idea might work okay in the rain, or I could try the same idea indoors.
I wonder how many figurative interpretations of the challenge we'll see (even though they seem fairly specific about what they mean this week).

i'm struggling with this one. every idea i come up with has already been done (and done well) in one of the previous challenges. i may end up copying someone else's idea (it's flattery, right?)
i will submit though, because right now i'm (a) kicking myself that i didn't submit to city life because there are other shots that (in my mind) are no closer to the challenge topic than mine would've been and (b) i'm having serious score-checking withdrawal symptoms and it's only just after lunch on monday. heeelp! ;)

I have a great idea. How about if I take a crystal ball, and show the way the sun focuses through it. That would be perfect for this challenge!
No, wait... I just did that.

I'm not at a loss for 'transparency' like I was for City Life... :)

I, on the other hand, am not quite clear on what I will shoot for ''Transparancy.''

I am not completely sure, but there has to be a pun in there somewhere. :-)

I am having the same problem, I have no idea what to do. I don't want to do the same old water in the glass shot. Well I guess that is half the fun of the "challenge" right?

Everyone does water shots so I'm going to try not to use water in my shot (at least not as the subject).
I suppose transparent clothes would fit the subject, right? ;)
Sure sounds like you've got something great up your sleeve jmsetzler :)

I'm sure this has been noted before, but I think it is no co-incidence that the subject of the new challenge is featured rather strongly in the challenge just completed. What percent of shadows involves trasparencys and what percent of roads involed shadows. Aelith |

This has been a struggle for me this week. I just can't seem to determine if transparency means I should shoot the picture through something that is transparent (like through a light fabric) or take the picture of something that is transparent (a stained glass window). Without giving it away what your picture is what are the rest of you doing? |

I assure you it's complete coincidence :) |

Well...I think it is safe to assume that the "transparancy" should be something that is physically evident and not metaphorical. Mainly because of the reference to "light" in the challenge description. Maybe this week we won't have so many "doesn't meet the challenge" comments. :-)
Then again...maybe not ;-) |

Well I say that physically evident usually does better but if someone can post a picture that is metaphorically transparent without it being too cryptic that would be acceptable to me as well. Although the description of the challenge pretty much forces you to look at it literally.

I'm struggling a little with this, but ideas are forming. Luckily I've avoid the temptation to use my wife's idea... A picture of her meditating with our child on her lap, titled..."Trance Parent" |

You should never avoid the temptation to use your wife's idea...I myself think this would have been a great shot, but probably not the winner at THIS site... |

In medical training they teach the mnemonic:
"When you assume you make an ASS/U/ME (an ass of you and me)...

I have bunches of different ideas this time. I just have to figure out the best setting to use one of the many ideas I have. It won't involve jello either. |

i had an idea, but I have no models for it. If you want, you can use it. I was thinking of gettin someone in the shower, taking a picture of them but with the shower door/curtain in the way to act as a semi-transparent thing. I dunno. You can do something with that. |

We had a nice day here yesterday so I was messing around with some shots, and I think I got a pretty cool looking image. It's very surreal. It will probably be the image I submit if I dont get anything better in the meantime...

i did some test shots yesterday and they came out ok, but i need to work on the lighting, so i bought a book on lighting and now i''ll probably be soooo busy getting the lighting just right (w/out actually buying real lighting equipment) that i just hope sunday doesn''t come around too soon. lol. i WILL be submitting though, because i feel all left out this week w/out a score to check and comments to read. :)
