There are abandoned and decaying industrial structures everywhere, this would be a great opportunity to show the beauty of these once glorious places.

That would be a cool challenge.

I like this idea, too. However, it doesn't have to be limited to "industrial structures". I would modify, slightly, the description:

"There are abandoned and decaying structures in every urban environment. Show the beauty of these once glorious artifacts."

... and there are even examples of decay in rural settings, and no I am not referring to fertilizers :O)

Just refrain from using the title, "Forgotten". ;-)

There goes my idea: "Tooth Decay: Forgotten Dentistry". Oh well, I was probably biting off more than I could chew with that one anyway. I just needed something I could sink my teeth into. ...ok, I'm done.

I like the suggestion. We have ahd Abandoned, Abandoned Buildings and Abandoned Buildings II. Similar, but this would be more broad I suppose.

I'm guessing you've never heard of Urban Exploration Resource, and the people who enjoy "Urban Spelunking".

There are those of us out there who have been exploring old industrial sites, water & drainage systems, and other various sorts of decaying structures for years.....

Respectively, a falling down corn crib, an abandoned Georgian-style mansion, a railroad bridge that the tracks were pulled up 50 years ago, a 100+ year old one room schoolhouse, a railroad car on a siding in the woods, and a utility room off the main thoroughfare of a pipe mill.

Yeah...this could include decrepit, never-finished ships in a shipyard; rusty skyscraper cranes with a wrecking ball; Superfund sites; abandoned sewers (with the obligatory Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles images, of course), etc.

abandoned urban structures have been one of my favorite subjects for the last few years. having another "abandoned buildings" challenge would be great, with a twist that puts weight to urban and industrial structures.

a few examples of industrial decay in germany:
