I had so many for this challenge - but at the last minute I switched ... cause it had a bit more personality

I think I may have picked the wrong one.
I had 4 poses that made the final cut. I asked 3 people which one they liked best. They all had different answers. These are the 3 that they selected. I entered my favorite. *sigh*
None have been cropped, and this one obviously needs it.

I was torn between a standard portrait shot and something a bit different. Having a top line of 'headshot's ' already I went for the bit different.
I like my entry (on the right) but the headshot may have scored better.

Announcing the winner of the
My thanks to the few commenters who pointed to one flaw that they saw on their monitors - but aside from that....
With 81 votes of 4 or below....*scratches head* guess most don't like gerbils or rather rodents...
My outtakes
(now this one definately looks washed out looking at it with the new monitor)

A few outtakes...
My wife Carol liked this one best...
My first attempt - Caly was not pleased here, until I gave her the first cookie!

Thanks to Tim timfythetoo for a bit of help on bringing out the best of this one... |

I know your entry did very well for itself but I think that first picture is great. |

I took about 30 shots total, with a number being head shots ... many of which came out good, with nice sharp eyes, but which were less interesting to me than the fuller poses.
Here are a couple of outtakes I seriously considered; I literally debated which one to enter right down to the submission deadline.
As CNovack pointed out in her comment, the contrast between the background and Ranger in the image I entered wasn't enough ... which I had also realized after that first "sitting". So I changed it up using a dark brown blanket. In the end, I liked his classic portraiture pose in my challenge entry versus the more "prop-induced" looks seen in the outtakes.
I'd loved to have just bumped the contrast on my submission but couldn't do it justice without violating Basic Editing rules. I've a more heavily processed version for my own use that I may post later, with vignettes and other spot editing that really makes it pop.

Entry:
This is actually a neighbors bunny.
The hardest part was just keeping the bunnies from jumping OFF the table, and our dog from getting ON the table.
OUTTAKES:
This is the one that the bunny's owner wanted me to submit...

These are my out takes:
- I liked it but felt the voters would slam it for motion blur.
- The lighting on the left was too harsh
Both of course would not have been able to have the vignetting under the basic rule set.
My entry: scored 5.9774 |

I had the shot taken, edited, and ready to go, when I realized it was Sunday and the challenge was Brown Ribbon Deja Vu, not Pet Portrait. I did get a shot into Brown Ribbon...but I couldn't make Simon on the blanket look as good using basic editing rules.

Thanks. That was definitely my 2nd choice. The way his hair stood up on the back of his neck leaving that odd shaped indent of white space bugged me, though. |

This underrated one bombed last year, so I figured I just go with basic snap shots for this challenge. These are some outtakes...

Here's a short video of my Pet Portrait IV shoot that my wife took for her blog.
She post some outtake and behind-the-scenes photos in this blog post.
