1. Optimistic: You stare at your masterpiece, awaiting rollover. You know this one has the technicals, the charm, the look to go all the way.

2. Hopeful: The first vote came in. If it's 6+ you're hopeful everyone sees what you you and this one other person saw. If it's 5 or less, you're hopeful that guy is a fluke.

3. Denial: The votes start piling up. Second, Third, Fifth, Tenth. You score is dropping faster than the mercury in Alaska. But how did all the trolls find YOUR image at the start of the challenge. No, the scores will build.

4. Anger: The "Why do I even bother with this crap?" stage. You swear, no more submissions. The voters here clearly don't get your genius.

5. Acceptance: Ok, I see what I did wrong now. I'll win those voters over next time.

I have a problem with #5. The thing is, "next time" never comes, because when it gets here, it's "this time".

I'm already in a lather over my freestudy score.

Funny, I'm at 5 already with my Free Study, though for this one I went from Hopeful to Acceptance, I knew it wasn't that great even before submission!

Between stage 3 and 4 is the mid stage where you get creative in figuring out the type of person who gives "1" or "2" or "3" or "4" scores to coin an ADDITIONAL term:

Knee-Jerk - a DPC voter who makes a extremely quick assessment of the photo, .0025 of a sec, and deems it unworthy of anything higher than a "4". The vote and viewing happens in a flash instant. The recipient of the low vote is left cursing the voter.

**This is, of course, said tongue in cheek;-) ;-)

Not so tongue in cheek at all if you have been following this thread.

I jumped right back into #4 after the free study score I just saw.... I am usually firmly in #5 and don't care much... bad month I guess. Flipping Unbelievable; Looks like it will finish right after an out of focus picture of someones dog :-/ again :-( Good thing all the people in the project were clamoring for a copy of the image... I guess they have no clue either hey

I believe Art ROFLMAO has a twelve-step program for how to deal with the last three stages.
If I'm not mistaken the first step involves burning the villages of the trolls. ;p
