I have the option of getting CS4 for $200, and with Lightroom thrown in its $300. should i get them both? I've heard good things about Lightroom, and im sure ill need it in the future at some point, but i'd like a few other opinions. thanks. |

The main advantage to lightroom is that it speeds up the workflow for someone who shoots a lot. If you shoot a lot, it's worth far more than $100. If you don't shoot much, you get the same image editing functionality with CS4.
If you're not shooting a lot now, you probably will in the future, so I'd go for it. |

Go for it, you won't regret it. I do all of my basic editing with lightroom and it saves me so much time. |

IIRC, Extended has some video editing features that you'll never use. Unless you're doing video, of course. |

Is LR worth it?
I wouldn't even hesitate for a second.
What's "Extended"?
Comparison of PS editions
I already have LR, and have since the first releases... I plan to move from PS Elements to CS4 Extended (through one of the same Academic Superstore deal) as soon as I have some spare $$$'s (which may not be any time soon...) :(
In short, yes, if you've got the cash to throw at it, don't already have either product to upgrade (you could save money upgrading vs. buying new licenses), that's a fantastic deal.

Unless you have a degree in Library Science, get the Lightroom. I have CS3 also but use Lightroom 2 for most of the work. |

If you shoot a lot then LR is great. It has saved me tons of time and lets me put out better 'proofs' than PS ever did. I rarely use PS anymore.
But if you don't shoot a lot (a lot is like 1000 shots at a wedding, 250 shots of a senior session, etc) then it's more of difficult decision IMO.

LR2 is great especially since I still use PS7. Helps a lot with cataloging. |

Another vote for "yes, get Lr". Unless you need the video editing features, or image analysis features (think science uses) you really don't need the Extended version of Ps. |

yes, get lightroom.
As for the price... why not just download it? |
