Hi! :)
For both shots, I would suggest a tripod or some solid surface. There is evidence of camera shake in both.
Also, they are too dark. A longer exposure would help, but I also see you are on f32 .. at night. I think this is too small. Try letting more light in. you can see good dof in your image even at f11.
I like the composition of the second one.
Give it another try. :)

ah.. That has happened to me before. A light tripod can show movement even in the slightest breeze. I ended up getting a new one for Christmas :)

You might even try weighing it down from the center support. You might be surprised at the result. I know, I've got a cheapie too.

I think part of it may be shooting at ISO1600. I'd try going with ISO400 or ISO800, opening up the apeture as Karen suggested and increasing the exposure time. You may also want to check your exposure compensation setting.

I would recommend an f/8 to f/11 ISO 200 (or 400) and about a 10 to 12 second exposure, maybe a little less on the exposure, but just play with the exposure to get it right for the amount of light in the scene

Just an example of the same shot, somewhat.
F4.0
2 seconds
ISO 200
Those lights on the Fullerton get easily overexposed. Quite tricky to balance the exposure.
Edit: and use a better tripod :)

In addition to the tripod stabilizing, try using the delay timer on the shutter release - just pressing the button can introduce some camera shake. Using the self timer let's the camera "settle" before the shutter actually releases. |

I totally agree!
also are you using a remote shutter release? if not you should, it's a bad idea to touch your camera or tripod when you do a shot like this |
