Woah....

Is this an exceptionally difficult challenge or is the challenge just uninspiring?

Maybe people need the weekend to travel to a city which makes me wonder, is 'City Life" only restricted to cities exceeding a certain population?

Didn't anyone tell you? You need to take your photo in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, San Fransisco or Washington, DC. London and Paris might be acceptable alternatives. You'd better go buy your plane ticket :)

actually I find this *very* telling.

without overgeneralizing (so sue me), if most of the people on the site are from the country or the burbs, I think it may actually go a long way towards explaining why the votes come out the way they do....

i have taken almost more pics for this challenge than any other so far.

I think it''s because I work in downtown DC and run around like a farmer in a fruit stand, just plucking shots off the over-burdened tree.

I''m going to have a HARD time choosing which shot to submit for this one. there are a million and one photojournalistic stories, graphical abstracts, amazing architecture, everywhere you look...!

But, just to be pre-emptive, I would like to start complaining ahead of time for the Country Life challenge that I don''t live in the country, so it''s not fair .. ; )

I was on a business trip couple days ago and went through a lot of towns with populations not exceeding maybe 10,000 and have a lot of shots. Too many shots to choose from.

I can see it now...comments like "Heck..people do that around here all the time..hardly 'City Life'".

I will not mention one shot we might see for fear of avoiding the big "C" word..

Actually, NPR had a story yesterday on Californai voting on their offical "Ghost Town Of California" to be either Bodi or Calico, polpulations 3 and 13 respectively.

I would love to be able to shoot some photos there!!

D&L did it on purpose. They like to watch us squirm and overanalyze :)

You guys are like me... you ignore the "news" secion on the front page because it's in that uninteresting section just above the part where you see your score :P

Summer solstice parties begin today, first day of summer. And it̢۪s raining.

Surely the equinox is the /middle/ of the summer, since it's the middle of the year, hence it being called midsummer's eve... ??

And getting back on topic, perhaps the submission counter thingy doesn't count the images on the other server yet...

Wow that's funny. How long has it been down?

Maybe everyone ran away scared from my controversial "Fat Jim" thread I started last week. Or maybe they ran away disgusted that is was removed from the site. Censorship on a site full of art-loving people probably doesn''t go over very well.

(P.S. This comment is SARCASTIC for those of you who are about to fly to your keyboards to type "HOW DARE YOU THINK YOU''RE SO IMPORTANT," or "THE WORLD DOESN''T REVOLVE AROUND YOU," or "YOUR THREAD CONTRIBUTED NOTHING PRODUCTIVE TO THIS WEBITE"...ok?)

This is the 3rd day I've tried to submit a picture and the submit system is down. Try again tomorrow.

ha! we're down to *8* submissions now!
06/21/2002 10:12:59 AM · #19
I've been stuck at 179 votes forever (not that I obsessively check that or anything ;-)) are the two related?
