Though I've registed here many days ago...but I am not that experienced over here...have browsed through few images and just commented on them!
I really need to know...how I can submit photos over here!
Is only challenges photos allowed...now I see I can submit on "Proportion"! Can I submit only on this subject of any other previous subjects too?
Can I submit more than one photo??? |

Hi Moni. Welcome
Read the rules and then post back if you have questions.
ONE photo per challenge.
No, you can't enter old 'previous' challenges.
YOUR photo _must_ be taken within the dates of the challenge.
Yes, you can post a link to photos for us to see. :)
Good luck. |

First, look under the menu item Challenges and go to the link to the rules. Please read them all. Then be ready for them to change slightly very soon.
The short answers:
You can enter the Open challenge with a single photo taken during the week it's posted. People WILL judge your photo as to how well you address the challenge topic.
If you sign up as a paid member ($5/month or $25/year) you will be able to enter all of the posted challenges, and will have 10mb of space at DPC where you can post your photos for viewing and commenting; you also get the ability to upload a high-resolution photo to be printed for yourself or for public sale. |

I'm reasonably new compared to others as well so I hope I don't get anything wrong. If you are a paying member, you can submit a photo to any challenge. If you are not a paying member, you can submit to an "open challenge" only.
I think only paying members can have a portfolio where you can upload as many images you like up to a certain file size and they don't have to fit any "challenge" description. You can also submit those same images as prints in the DPCPrints area (again, if you are a paying member). Click on "my home" and then "my portfolio" to see if you can upload images.
To submit to a challenge, you can go to the homepage and click on the challenge link and submit your image. The instructions should be on that page. There is also an area to vote on images submitted last week. Your ranking will definitely reflect your interpretation of the challenge description. I misunderstood one challenge description and, although people thought it was a good shot, my ranking was very poor. It's always good to stick to the challenge theme as much as possible.
You can only submit one photo per membership.
Hope this helps. |

You may enter only a current challenge and may enter only one photo taken during the dates the challenge is open. You are eligible to enter challenges for "Basic Editing" until you become a paid member, whereupon you may enter all challenges.
You cannot enter any closed challenge. Be sure to read the rules!

You can enter the Open challenge with a single photo taken during the week it's posted.
SO a shot taken a month ago would be DQed.

... and time. Set it to your local time zone, but note that all deadlines are based on Eastern Time as displayed at the bottom of every page, so allow for any time difference when you are ready to submit. |

Okay- I have a question about this, since I live across the int. dateline. My photo should be shot within the time constrains as applies to Japan (just in case by some miracle they want to check my camera card date and time), but that's technically the day before the challenge ends in America, all things being equal. So... does that mean I get a day less for each challenge? |

Jesuispeure,
The important date/time is that which is maintained on the DPC Server. You will have the same amount of time as everyone else. The "server" time is always shown at the bottom of the each page( including this one ). Looking forward to your photos.
Ron

No because the deadline closes the next Monday or Wednesday morning for you (if I have the offset correct). All of the challenges are timed to the date/time setting on the DPC server, and we will allow for your location/time zone when evaluating the date of your original.
Sorry Ron -- I just scrolled further on the page and see you've answered this already.
