I have revisited my beambreaker, built in 2004 and used it to measure the shutter delay on the 50D. It is about 80ms, which is almost half of the figure for the 20D (about 150ms). Those who like to capture images of things falling need to be aware of the improvement - the camera is now much quicker off the mark!

I have written up the experiment as an update to the Beambreaker User Manual, originally produced as part of the "How did they do that?" the tutorial on "Homage to Jacko & Rackat",
