I was wondering about that eerie feeling there was someone watching me... now I know...

Team Suck and all the wonderful people I meet on there; dpcers I have shot with and enjoy teasing on various threads...You know who you are!

If I have a question about equipment I can either find some ideas in old threads or start a new one, and get generous, un-snarky advice on what's a good buy from others. And of course I can go see the proof in the pudding by looking at their portfolios!

If I have a Mac problem I can pm scalvert and get advice; ditto PS guru Man_Called_Horse, who just gave me a lengthy private tutorial on what all them numbers in unsharp and other sharpening thingies mean.

I even get to liking some of trolls who dish out the mean comments, cause usually after a pm or two they're not so bad, they explain a little more what they didn't like about that shot, then I learn from them.

So, apart from the occaional really weird skew that the voting takes, I pretty much like the dpc community.

I would love Susan and all of DPC if I knew the UNSHARP and other thingies too!

Something I love about DPC. I don̢۪t know if I could narrow it down to just one thing and the post would be to long to list all. So I will try to wrap it up and bag it in one paragraph.

DPC is like a family to me. I signed up for DPC many years ago to learn about photography and got more than I bargained for. I learned things here that I did not expect to learn, from users and members. Not only did I learn about photography but also I soon become friends with hundreds if not thousands of people from around the world. Not just people but kind, caring, loving, and generous people. Yea, we may have our spats from time to time but when the day is done we all respect each other. A community that has tore down barriers that countries haven̢۪t been able to by caring for each other no matter what nation were from, what our religion may or may not be, or our political views. I believe when we see each other online we don̢۪t see users, we see family and friends. Where else can $25 /yr. by you so much? Nowhere!

I'm glad to see people liking this thread.

I want to put in a plug for the GTGs.....they are freakin' AWESOME!!!

I love the way they give me an excuse to go someplace cool and enjoy being a complete dork and taking HUNDREDS of pictures without whoever's with me whining at me for doing that! LOL!!!

I like how I can ask almost any random question and get a response within a few minutes that is 90% of the time right.

the DRAMA, although that seems to be lacking a bit lately

What I enjoy the most about this site is the camaraderie that prevails, and how, not unlike families, we are all quick to provide solace, comfort, guidance and financial aid when one of our own encounters a trying situation.

Thank you all for being my extended family.

Have to agree with Dr Achoo.....any question on whatever topic is enthusiastically and reliably answered.

When I needed to find a sound recording program, I posted a question, and in minutes, Art Roflmao told me what to use, where to get it, and even helped me get it going.

It's this, the spirit that prevails, that makes me pay my membership. A great resource, is DPC.

The best part for me is seeing how one word can inspire so many different ideas. Even if the images arent technically perfect as the ribboners, they are just as brilliant in their own right. A lot goes into each photo from concept to final product. Some do it for the creative outlet while others are after those elusive immaginary ribbons. I appreciate them all.

Oh and of course my really close friendships that keep me coming back for more!
you know who you are! ;)

You been sleeping too much this week?

I'm gonna go with Ray on this one. You guys are one giving bunch. Whether its photography insight or cash to someone in need...you guys are always there. That makes me smile more than most anything around here...well, other than Art.

I love how much my photography has improved over the last 9 months through a combination of constructive feedback, seeing how creative people can be, looking at great images, the challenges that make me learn how to actually use my camera. The help in the forums from people and the tutorials are an invaluable resource.

9 months ago the only setting I really used other than auto was P, had no idea what RAW was, never used photoshop until my first challenge entry, not a clue how ISO effected anything ... I've just looked back at my first few entries and the amount I learnt in the space of a few challenges was immense :)

I also love seeing other peoples photography and seeing how much more I could improve my photography.

Encouragement from others, especially from Nuzzer and Signal2noise whom I have met. Without this I probably would put my camera away except for work.

Good to see you here too, RayEthier, who at the time was a total stranger sitting at the public Internet computer next to mine, voting on these amazing images. I kept sneaking looks over and he caught me doing it and showed me the site, including the incredible Doomwatch picture. I entered the Heat challenge with me little Samsung that week, and had no idea what Photoshop was or RAW or any fun stuff like that! This was just over 2 yrs ago. Thanks Ray!

In turn I like to try and rope in new dpcers when I can...be they unsuspecting clerks at Henry's or people whom I see shooting, with that slightly oblivious air of 'I don't know or really care about what's going on around me, and I won't, until I get my shot!' :-)

I'm not sure I'd go that far, but there does seem to be quite a wide & varied knowledge base here.
