How about a 'Best Ever' challenge? Enter whatever you think is the best photo you have ever taken. If that's too much, maybe a 'Best of the Year' challenge.

I agree! Most photographers would like to show their best shots in a challenge. And it would be strange if the best shot was taken last week. Maybe the images we see at DPC are really poor because they are just made for the challenge, and not from an artistic point of view?

But I still think it should be taken with digital equipment.

Isn't this the idea behind the open challenges?

Nope. Open challenge entries still have to be taken within the week of the challenge.

Yeah, date restrictions say for today 2003 to a week from today 2004 (actually a year and a week for photo dates)
OR
pictures you have already taken, so if you took a current picture in the submission deadline week it would be DQed

It would be like a free study, but people would have a much bigger selection to choose from and thus more quanity of more quality pictures would come in (in theory).
Cool idea!

Cool idea!

It would also give folks a place to show off those really great photos they create that don’t quite fit the current challenge; possibly even limiting the number of out of place or ‘shoehorned’ entries.

We could have one every year, maybe in December, and it would give us all something to look forward to and shoot photos for all year long.
