I have stated this before, but let me repeat it here:

The scores on DPC are lower than a couple of years ago! Perhaps the parameters have changed and we have been left behind? Perhaps we are the dinosaurs here and young blood knows better? Perhaps there is a more technically able group that are revealing our shortcomings? Or maybe, perhaps, we are just witnessing a new batch of users and members who just like voting low?

Whatever the cause, it is not conducive to level playing field voting and will only result in members leaving eventually. There is a more aggressive group here who want everything to change and question the way the site works. I feel this can only have a negative effect on DPC.

By the way, I have a great score of 4.8!

Sorry Steve... I dont understand why a low score is a problem as long as the voter is consistent in voting.. the winner is decided 'relative' to others, right? How does an absolute score matter?

By the way I did not vote in this challenge since I took part here:-)

I'm consistent in voting, but now that I'm taking a second look and working on commenting 100%, I'm happy to have a more specified top 20. I was scoring between 4 and sometimes 7. Now it's looking like some are going higher, some are staying the same, and some are losing a point now that I am commenting. It's more accurate now that I am commenting and taking a second look.

I hope more will take the time to comment. It takes a while, but you learn more for yourself as well.

OK, seem to be going for a PW here.........! Maybe even a brown..... :O) It's way below 5

Pity, perfectly natural shot, flash caught the detail, movements around caught the blur.....

Hey, I am near my worst score too!!! I actually completely agree with the voters, the image is Blah!! Darn that DPCO....they made me do it. I probably would have scored my image a 4. Yep, it stinks. Looking forward to having this challenge over. Tried to turn off my scores, but that lasted for only about 1 hour. I feel the pain. LOL

This score sucketh and I lack a sense of humor about it. Can't wait for DPCO to be over so I can cease entering challenges that aren't free studies. to you narrow-minded, lowballing sacks of protoplasm. Anybody that wants to look at mine afterwards and justify a sub-5 score, I'd welcome ANY point of view. No comments. One favorite.

I dont get the voters on this challenge. I have all 9 people say great things about it and some even think it will end up in the top ten. I hate to dissapoint them because I doubt this will even end up in the top 50

Go figure, lately DPC has made no sense to me lol...or maybe its me who makes no sense to DPC ;)

I did not enter this challenge but I have voted and I have to say I felt like a lot of entries confused motion blur with either camera shake or just complete blur without focus on a focal point. Just my humble opinion.

I have a feeling this will be a low scoring challenge and would imagine you just might be top 10 with that score.

Don't worry. I really expected mine to be over 6....instead I am on a 5.4 score. I love this image and want to have a print of it on my wall.

Well here we are over 100 votes and no comments, maybe the photo is too good and they can't find any faults, or don't understand the difference between out of focus & motion blur :):):):):):)

I've returned after a 3 year absence for a little inspiration. I'm not getting it from this score though! Sheesh!! We can't withdraw our entries after the challenge starts, can we?? Anyway, glad to be back though and will keep at it...

I suppose one can self DisQualify.. but I never did that. Some may throw more light on this.

Just joking about pulling my image, Prash. It will make my average easier for me to beat next time! Thanks though!!

ernie, thought you were turning off your scores.
I have to say I am disspointed with mine, really some tough voting out there. I am not surprised though!
Anyway turning off my scores. will turn it on when Oct FS starts Yay !!!

I went from 6.8 after 6 vote, to 5.9 after 16 votes, then to 5.1 at 80 votes and now, after 113 votes, I'm on 4.9... that's a massive drop.

One positive (?), it'll keep my string of "Lower than Average" score going :(

I should have actually turned the scores off...every time I look it is going down, down, down.

Good luck in the FS Andrew, you are ahead of me by 11.5 points, you are 14th I am 15th. We both have some work to do in order to crack the top 10. :)

Yes that is a drop, there seems to be an underlying element in the voting at present, my photo although not starting as high as yours is mid 4's and not 1 comment after 110 votes, my personal opinion is that a few disgruntled members of the past are new members and are out to take dpc down, this as I say is my Personal opinion.

You have rated 202 of 203 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 4 images (2%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.4851.

I still need to do a second pass to fine tune.

I don't know. I am one of those old members who has come back & I think I tend to mark quite high.
I have given a few bad scores to images where camera shake (Probably unintentional) is trying to be sold as motion blur. It still needs to be a photo you would be proud to show someone.

I tend to think new members tend to mark low. Maybe there are a lot of new members at the moment.
