Hi folks, another newbie here from UK :-)

New to photography, love the site and learning a lot from you all :-) Now just psyching myself up to perhaps making an entry (its a BIG perhaps!) but just need to know a couple things...

I notice a lot in the pp comments people put 'Sharpen, resize, save for web'.

OK, so I know how to sharpen, but what do I resize to? And why? And what does 'save for web' mean?

I currently have a Canon 450D, and use Corel Paint Shop Pro XI.

Help greatly appreciated!!

Welcome and jump in with both feet, just make sure you're wearing a thick skin - GRIN!
