It's an incredible amount of work that he does for us all here.
EDIT to include link to some of his work:
DPC Olympics |
I'd like to second that nomination. Dirt_Diver made the DPC Olympics possible when I first created it, and he has continued to run it for 3 seasons. The success of DPCO has been because of him. I hope you win buddy :) |
I apologise I missed Joe's name this time. It will go to the judges in the next batch (I just added it in the list, please check the first message). Thanks guys for the double nomination!

I nominate prash.
He's been a member for less than 5 months and immediately became an active participant. He always has time to leave a comment or help with a problem if he can. He's not afraid to speak up, even when his opinion may not be the popular one but does so in a diplomatic tone (usually), and often works to restore a semblance of sanity to threads.
In short, he's become such an integral part of the site that it's easy to forget how recently he joined us :)
(needless to say, being thoughtful enough to start this thread gets him bonus points ;) )

Sheila,
Thank you for the thought. I wouldnt lie: it feels like an honor in itself that you thought of my presence that way. But I really dont want to think of it beyond that or the embarassment would reduce my visits to DPC.
Thank you, thank you. But just so people would trust the institution of this award, allow me to please stop this thought right here. I am better suited in places where Art is with his torches and the torn villages;-) |

If I'm allowed, I would also like to make a second nomination for Jutilda
For this year's Christmas DPC Wishlist, she was one of the most generous human beings during this time, fulfilling Christmas wishes to several DPC members. I think she deserves to be on the list (if she is not on it already). |

Anyone is welcome to nominate one or more fellow DPCers, Jon!
Thank you very much. I will add Judy's name to the nominee list.
If you can, please share a link to to at least one reference thread in support.

I already have one listed in the part where I nominated him, Prash. But, since it's just blue text and doesn't look like a typical internet address, you might have missed it.
Here it is again:

I want to nominate Mr_Pants for an award. He gifted me a membership back in October without any fanfare and I just saw in this thread that Mr_Pants gifted yospiff's daughter a membership. He has participated in many SP side challenges with amazing images and has always provided guidance and instruction on his techniques.
...PLUS- he keeps his toilet spotless! |

Can I add second (or third or whatever) the nomination for Mr_Pants.
I bought a lens a few months ago and, having some problems with it, took it back to the store who sent it to Canon. THREE TIMES! Got to the point they still had my lens the month I was due to leave for Antarctica, a holiday where I really, really needed the lens. Mr_Pants lent me one of his lenses, even knowing if I got mine back last minute, I wouldn't even need his, just incase I didn't get mine back. (In the end I did but it was just a couple of days before we left and I didn't manage to get to a reputable courier to get his lens back to him before we left).
Keep in mind that he gave it to me a four weeks before I went, I was away for four weeks and I'll not see him again to give it back until this weekend, which means he'll have been without a lens he paid good money to have in his kit for two MONTHS!
To be honest, this is just one example, Mr_Pants is one of those blokes who is extremely generous and when he helps, he always does so with such modesty and quiet that few other than the recipient of his generosity ever hear about it.

*Everyone chants* PANTS! PANTS PANTS! :)
I second Jutilda as well! She gave me a lensbaby. Well, sold it to me. ...but she could have sold it to someone else. Anyway, like cujee said, check out Judy's generosity in the Christmas wishlist thread and consider my vote cast for her. |

I would like to second the nomination for Mr_Pants in recognition of his reaching out in the critical places:
But seriously, he is a great asset to this place in many ways. His comments have been among the most useful I have ever gotten. |

I know I have found an amazing amount of talent from the links he has provided. I am very grateful for what Thomas brings to DPC. Thank you!
And an outtake from the username challenge from a while back -

AMEN to that! Second the nomination. Thom is arguably the most underappreciated toiler-in-the-trenches at DPC. For several years now he has been feeding us steady doses of raw, useful information and, as far as I can see, getting precious little credit for it.

Batch-I results are out.
Interestingly, the judges that participated in the panel this time were torn even for the first place. So it was decided to award all of them with the honorary mention award.
Congratulations, Derek, Barbara, and Chromeydome!! You are part of the reason DPC is alive and thriving!
The second batch will now be considered. You can see the nominee list in the first post. |

Guys,
The next batch results are out. And the first "Star" award of the year 2009 goes to: Man_Called_Horse !
The following DPCers have also been awarded an honorary mention award: Mr_Pants, dirt_diver, and Jutilda.
The first post in this thread has been updated with details of the winners. Thanks to all the judges for their time.
Congratulations to all the winners!!
