Hey all. Some shots from this weekend at my Aunties' House in Melbourne.

I think the most successful shot is this one. Lil' guy peekin out at us with his/her many eyes! :P

~

We we leaving for the airport when I spotted this mantis on the bush, stopped the car and got all my lenses out again (had just packed them away) unfortunately didn't make much of the opportunity.

~

...And some bees and flies cavorting on the lavender. Not the sharpest of shots but wanted to post them anyways :)

~

And I just wish this could have been better framed. He has such character! (actually it almost kinda works, cramped like that)

~

Hope you enjoy!

Many of your shots are realy good. You are getting very shallow DOF expecially considering that you are using G5 but not some advanced lens. Do you use some radial blur technic in PS?

Thanks garlic :)

Using the two macro diopters I have, +4 and +10 give a DOF of 4mm. It proves quite troublesome most of the time, but getting better at it with each practice. So no PS blurring here.

Glad you enjoyed them!

I love the 2nd one from the bottom, though I think you could try cropping a bit off the top.

Thanks Gina! I agree, that top should go. Thanks for helping me see :)

Today I caught some ladybugs. Not the clearest shots again :( but i wanted to share this one moment when I was focusing on one bug in the foreground on a leaf with another coming into the frame in the distance.

The bug then continues climbing towards me to meet the other bug on the underside of the bulb

Where they CLASH! and fight and dangle Stallone Style, upside down from this bulb. I missed it all, couldnt get the focus! (so much for being an conflict photographer) but got this shot

and later discovered that they were fighting over food, not "real estate"! A fly was caught on the sticky underside of the bulb (talk about honey i shrunk the kids! WOW!)

What a great 1/2 hour of shooting! So much fun :D
