CANONS made in USA or overseas, whats the biggest difference and should i be concerned,am buying a Canon 40D thru B and H cameras,any input would be greatly apreciated am buying now online

I thought Canons and Nikons were built in Asia and shipped to the USA, but I could be wrong cos I am Pentax user???

makes good sense to us too,thnx,will have to do,lol,nice camera steve btw,as you can see i have the pentax K100D

There's no difference, they are all made in the same location. I would only be concerned if you are ordering from an unreputable seller and BH is very reputable.

I'm sure quality wise they are the same. What you have to watch for is the warranty, canon USA products can be warrantied in the US, the other canon products, usually referred to as gray market, might need to be sent out of the country to a different service center in order to be covered under the warranty.

While they are made at the same factory, the warranty situation is very different. The products from Canon USA carry their warranty. Whereas the Canons from B&H are imported without warranty and therefore only B&H offers warranty and after-sales service and support. So, is the difference in price worth not having any access to Canon USA? I think not. You're call.

They aren't covered by Canon at all. You'd need to have a receipt that shows the camera was purchased outside the US to get warranty service. I believe that B&H warrantys all of their gray market goods, but I'd read the fine print VERY carefully.

B&H sells both kinds actually: USA warranty and "gray market" non-USA versions. Makes sense because B&H sells internationally. If you are a USA customer, you want to be sure to buy a USA version or you won't have a warranty in this country.

I've always paid for the USA warranty.

When I purchased my Canon 70-200mm f/4 L lens, I purchased the NON-USA version. I order over the phone with B&Hphoto. I asked what was the difference and he told me if I purchased the USA version it would be covered by Canon. If I purchased the NON-USA version it would NOT be covered by canon but B&Hphoto would warranty the product for the same length of time. Since B&Hphoto is a reputable company I choose to save a few $$.
