OK its probably been asked a thousand times before but I couldn't find it with a search.....
Right now its Sunday 28th March 21:09 BST (GMT+1) and the server time claims to be 15:09 EST. SO what time does the motion blur challenge finish? Midnight EST??
Please feel free to berate me for my apparent noobishness, just want to know if I'll get a chance to get some more shots tomorrow morning...... |

I'm gonna have to remember that! Living in odd-ball Indiana, I always have to try to remember which time zone I'm currently in.

Hey Chris--if you are in "oddball" indiana, I'm guessing you must be in the Northwest Region, where I grew up. Care to share where you are located? I grew up in a place called Miller Beach. (Live in NY State now though...) |

The official server time is EST(UTC-5)/EDT(UTC-4) and is listed at the bottom of every page on DPC. That clock is the one that dictates challenge rollover as well as the valid submission dates.

UTC (which I think is what you're referring to) is the Universal Time Clock, which is interchangable with GMT.

To take this one step further does it end on the midnight preceeding the day or following it? For instace the members challenge ending on Sunday the 18th of April. Does it end on the Saturday to Sunday midnight or the Sunday to Monday one? This really wants to be a FAQ I think.
And yes I can't remember. It has been a while since I had time to devote to photography. |

The challenge runs from 00:00:00 the starting day to 23:59:59 the ending day. In other words, if a challenge runs the 1st to the 7th, it starts the beginning of the first and ends the end of the 7th.

UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time (I think the acronym comes from French) and is the "standard" way of saying Greenwich Mean time (but clarifies that it does NOT convert to British Summer Time). This corresponds to the observed sun time at Greenwich, England, without regard for conversion to Daylight Saving/Summer time.

Can they make it any harder to figure out the time? ;)
Glad I'm in the same time zone!
