I've never liked the idea of ticket scalpers. I thought it was illegal. There are lots of them in Toronto during baseball/basketball/hockey games. If it's illegal, why don't the police sweep them up? I'd enjoy doing it if I were a cop.
Maybe I'll start a collection of scalper photos.

I'm not sure that it is illegal. At least not in Florida. I know it used to be but the law changed. I think you just can't sell them over face value.

Please be careful, Slippy. Something about those guys make me think they might strongly object to having their photos taken.
In New York, ticket scalping used to be illegal. Now I think it's (supposedly) regulated. |

Its only illegal within X amount of feet/yards from the stadium in Question. I know when I visited Denver a few years ago, they had signs posted "You may not scalp tickets any closer than here". |

I sell my tickets on ebay. I can sell them for any price I choose as I don't live in the same state as the venue. (NY vs PA)....I generally use ebay and ebay will prohibit a PA person from bidding higher than a set percentage above face value.

Most of the venues I attend do not allow the resale of tickets on the grounds/property, However exceptions to the rule are allowed. For example, If you were to sell an extra ticket at face value to a friend in the parking lot. They will most likely not enforce it. However if you are standing there with a stack of 30-40 tickets in your hand trying to get triple face value, You will promply be asked to move out of the areas where ticket resales are prohibited. If you continue to sell in the restricted area they will arrest you. Sometimes however the venue rules might not be as strict as the show itself. NBA NFL etc all have their own set of regulations which may apply and or overrule the venues policy so always best to stay a good distance from the place you are trying to unload your extra tickets. |

I know in Michigan scalping is illegal, but somehow "vendors" are allowed to buy large lots of premium tickets and sell them WAY over face value. |

StubHub is one of many new sites which specialize in the resale of tickets. |
