I my name is Gauri and I am a newbie here...well, I joined the website ages ago but never got down to posting anything...so here I am with some more time on my hands and wanting to start.
So, first, i extend my hand in friendship to all fellow photographers. I have been playing with the camera since i was 8 years old...as my Dad was a professional photographer, he always let me use his Nikon SLR and take the weirdest of shots a small kid can take...unfortunately, I wish I had any of them to show....:((
Anyhow, I have always loved taking pictures and my main subjects of interest are people, faces, landscpaes, nature, flora and fauna and babies. I have been using a Canon Powershot S45 since 2003 and was very content with the results up until my baby boy was born last year. Ever since then I have noticed, this camera takes forever to start, does not do so well on action shots, or low lighting conditions, and soemtimes a mom of a toddler does not really have time to adjust the settings manually. I am howevr, looking into going into DSLR but am just not sure where to start looking. I have up until now just been a hobby photogrpaher taking snapshots, but I wish to turn them into Photos. So need to leanr a lot about pp, HDR photogrpahy, aperture settings, lighting and speeds, etc....so any tips on any books would also be welcome.
Thank you so much.
