A good friend of mine has had one of these in his gear bag for years. He used it to fill in the shadows. It is activated by on camera flash and can be placed anywhere. Any thoughts? I would like to try and find out where I can buy one. Its maybe 1 1/2 inch diameter.

Never used one, but why not ask your friend where they got theirs? Does this have a name/manufacturer/model?

You'd have to be careful when using one of these sorts of things, because most cameras fire a pre-flash which would set these things off at slightly the wrong time.

Thanks for the responses. Great heads up on the pre flash. My friend has had it for years and no manufacturer name is on it.
