Any of you graphics wizards have any suggestions for mine?

I am pretty happy with my logo(first ever design for me) but I'm not sure about the type on the rest.

I do like the idea that I can keep the style and change out the photo.

I need a million dollars. PM me and I'll give you a PO box to send it to. Certified check only please, I hear those million dollar bills don't work too well.

(it worked for John...)

How do you use a photo as a background for a business card?

Just create your card in Photoshop as a 300DPI image that is 1088 x 638 pixels. Just remember to keep any text inside the "safe zone" (the central 1012 x 562 pixels). Your background photo should take up the entire 1088 x 638 pixels, but remember that the outer 1/16th" will be physically trimmed off to ensure a "full bleed" and get the card to the standard business card size of 3.5" x 2" (1050 x 600).

Karen, thanks for mentioning OvernightPrints.com! They are even less expensive than AAA Full Color Business Cards and appear to offer a similar product. I've ordered some samples from them to compare...

Fabulous! Thanks Eddy for the advice on getting a photo card and Karen for the OvernightPrints.com link. :-)

I'm no wizard, but I really like your card. Everything looks fine to me, except.. what's the 732 for?

Eddy, did you get those samples yet? I ordered them from Overnight Prints after reading this post, and I have to say, I am quite impressed. They are very solid, bright cards, at a great price. If I do order cards in the near future I would have to give these folks a try.

My samples arrived today, and they are very good. However, I think the samples from AAA Full Color Business Cards might be a tad bit better. Did you order samples from AAA as well? I'm just not sure if it is worth twice the price. My only glossy sample from OvernightPrints was for "A3 Alarm Systems" and I didn't think it was that great; the colors look like they are mis-registered (so they have a little "fuzzy halo" around them). The non-glossy samples look really good though. When I get ready to make cards, I'll probably go with a short-run from OvernightPrints and see how they turn out...

I got my samples from AAA today, I'm very impressed with the overall quality and thickness of the paper.

I did not realize that AAA had samples - I will definitely check that out. The full color card that OvernightPrints sent (besids their own) was for a place called Aurigen Media. That card looks very good, color seems fine. It's all about comparison shopping these days, though, right? :-) I will check out the competition and see what they have to offer.

Edit: And you are right - the non-glossy cards seem a lot better - very crisp.
