It took me a month or maybe slightly longer ??? to get my Unit 1 back! I was quite frustrated, but my instructor provided VERY detailed feedback, so it was okay!

I wanted to bump this up. I just updated my NYIP album with my Unit 2 and 3 photos. Its SO weird not using photoshop! :)

Is it too late to join this? I am also taking the NYIP course and maybe joining this "study hall" will get my rear in gear about getting my studying done. I've been so busy I have put it off. Excuses, Excuses....

Never too late to join! take a look at some of the stuff the others and myself have put up thus far, it may work to get the creative juices going!

count me in and I'll get started with creating my albums. Stuck on Unit 4 pics right now, indoor 3/4 - full location portrait showing the subjects personality. I may need to ask for an extension. I only have until July and still have to finish this and 2 more units.

I am JUST NOW finishing the assignments for unit 1! That deep DoF assignment had me stumped. But I've got an apple and a road that I think just might do the trick! Unfortunately, I'm also going to need the SUN, so the scheduling is tough. I'm stubborning refusing to move on until I take the shot because I know if I let it go, I'll never get back to it. Ugh.

ther are still a few out there who havn't started collections yet, so if you do want comments etc. post some of your stuff.

Just wanted to check and see if this thread was still alive -- I just signed up for class, so it will be "a while," but supposedly my course materials are on the way.

I've never joined a frat before. I feel....ummm.....I don't know how I feel -- it's all greek to me. HAR HAR HAR!

Sorry, I tried to stop myself. I did.

BTW I know I'm well behind on commenting on stuff here as I've been crazy busy (and several weeks of sick didn't help... I'm still promising to get back on track pretty quick, but that doesn't stop the rest of you from doing the same :)

So, for those who have been taking NYIP for a while, what's the general pace like? I mean, I know it's "self-paced" to a large extent, but what's the usual turn-around / wait-time like when you're finished with one unit/assignment/whatever and waiting for feedback or the next course materials?

I'm not in some kind of super-hurry, but I'm just curious.

Receiving new assignments does not depend on finishing a previous one. It goes by tuition payments made. If you pay all at once, you get all the course materials at once. Otherwise, they are sent after two payment cycles.

And it is entirely self-paced.

Like CEJ said reciving one unit doesn't depend on finishing one... they're sent a regular intervals, but getting feedback from your assignments can sometimes take a bit, it took just over a month for my critique on the unit 1 stuff to come back. I'm still working on the Unit 2 (cause again been busy), but I'm sure it'll take just as long. I guess the important thing is for you to take you time with you assignments (really no rush) and be patient for your critiques etc.

life is happening for me as well and have just started unit 2 (son getting married, big move to florida). nonetheless, i do think it would be very helpful if we noted our professor's critiques in the comment field of our photos.

ok everyone stopped talking!

Well I jumped into this today. Been looking at it for over a year now, and finally decided I'm gonna have a little time... time to go for it.

Besides with the new studio coming up I'd like ideas on what the best set up for it is.

Everyone still happy with their course?

Still happy and kicking... with the summer wedding busyness I havne't had a lot of time to do the readings etc... and I'm waiting for my unit 2 stuff (which I will upload here next week) to come back so I can get onto unit 3 (which i'v actually read most of, and really need only take the shots for the project)... I'm thinking once spetember comes I'll have a lot more time to work on that stuff

eta: so does this mean you want to join the club now?
