I am new to this site and was wondering how to get my photos critiqued.
Thanks, Jim

If you mean the ones in your portfolio here, ask in the forums, like you're doing now. It would help to post two or three thumbnails, or maybe up to five, of the ones you especially want critiqued.

To post thumbnails, go into your portfolio and click on one of your images. Note the image ID number at the end of the URL (as in //dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=659319). Then, in the thread, click the thumbnail icon at the top of the edit box and enter that number.

(There really has to be a more user friendly way of doing this.)

Thanks for your reply, but I don't seem to have an image ID number. I have the name of the photo. Jim

Yeah, it's hard to find. You have to look at the image's link to find the ID number. Click on an image in your portfolio. It's displayed. Look at the link in the URL locator of your browser (the place where website addresses shows up). It'll look something like this: //dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=659319

The ID number is the last six digits you see, after the equals sign. In the example, it's 659319.

Hey got it. Now for another question, hope you don't mind. Where in the forum do you post this? Jim

Welcome to the madness, and beware the evil update button.

Beware Slippy even more than the update button.

As Strikeslip says, in "Individual Photograph Discussion". Here's an example of such a thread. If you specifically want the critiques to be comments under your picture, say so too.

Beautiful shots, Jim! I'm guessing you were using you 100-400 for those, which is my fav lens. There seems to be a little camera-shake on the male cardinal.

Just do it here. The SC has locked the other thread indicating it's a duplicate of this one.
