Whilst browsing the forums on dpreview, I came upon a thread from a disappointed user of the 300D. He had just jumped from point&shoot digicam and wasn´t used to DOF, post processing etc.

Anyway, one of the advice linked to a terrific photoshop action which works wonders in sharpening and saturating the picture.

Here´s the link, the difference in the before and after pictures is astounding!

I have tried it myself both on jpg and raw pictures and it works great!

Here´s da link!

ECHO.... Echo.......... echo.................

Looking at it right now, as it's not difficult at work (though it probably should be), and hoping it also applies to my G5. Thanks for the link Ivar.

This should work on everything, just try it out.....

You just open the pic and run the action.

Is there a way to use this action with Photoshop Elements, or do I need to have PE's big brother?

I don´t know. The action is simply a script which uses a couple of functions in PS such as; Layers, USM, Find edges, desature, levels, feather and a couple more...

It doesn´t hurt to try it in Elements... I just don´t know if it will work there..

I have elements and ps 6 but I couldn't figure out how to get
actions to run in elements! It's a breeze in ps6.

I have to say that I have been please with the results of
this action so far!

You have to copy the file into the following folder (the path may vary with different photoshop versions..)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\PhotoshopXX\Presets\Photoshop Actions\

Edit: To run the action you have to have the Actions window open (Window - Action). There you can see the 10DFinishers.atn, you click on the |> next to it then select the 10D 'Finisher' and press the play button.

u still have to load the action in.. click the arrow button at the top right (under the red box X button) and find the .atn file in the folder that you put it in

thanks

just to note the actual creation of the action ( at the top of the page ) was to work along with capture 1 dslr - as part of his workflow -
not 100% sure the same effectiveness would be found using other RAW conversion tools...

will try it when i have more time.
