Hi guys,
I just started to work (as my second job) at a very well known photography studio. Here is my problem... I can take pictures, but I never had to do that kind of photography, heavily, by myself without any help. Girls, guys, kids, couples, I have to pose them and take about 15 pictures, 5 by 5 (5 face, 5 full body and 5 play) in 20 minutes. Now, 20 minutes sounds pretty long time to take 15 photos, but since I don't know many posing techniques, or styles, I probably will kill it with only 10 good shots...
I found some pdf files, and some sample pictures online, free... any of you know other, or more sources that I can study a little bit more. I don't need nude posing (not yet at least)
Thanks

I found one (Posing Guide.pdf), if anyone else could get me more samples, or websites that I can download some free samples to study, that would be great.

Real basic, but you could try browsing the portrait gallery here on DPC, and other sites. Look up pro photographer sites, check out their stuff. Try going to a book store or library, there are a lot of books out there on portraiture. |

Just gotta say,
That PDF file is great! What a great source. A lot of glamour ideas too.
Thanks for the link! |

Bump.
I know there are lots of sources out there in the bookstores, other websites. I was just wondering if anyone could share any material here. |

Start keeping a Posing File/Notebook. Pick up any magazine and flip through it. Tear out any Page that has a pose you like and stuff it into your pose file. You can even hand it to your models to give THEM ideas. |

That's a very good idea. I already have started collect some fashion magazines, and yes I will make my own file book. I just don't have time in the studio to discuss what the people would do; they are ordinary people coming in and out. So, I have to be the one who will actually posing them in 20 minutes with 15 acceptable photos. I am sure I'll do fine, but still have to learn new stuff for different bodies :D |

"Professional Posing Techniques for Wedding and Portrait Photographers". Basics, and looks like a good book for me to get started. I also printed out the PDF file I have linked here, and some other website forum that I was directed to. So, I should be ok.
Thanks for the suggestions :) |

I also saw your book (Posing for Portrait Photography). I probably will get it later. There are many to choose from. I am interested in also "How to take baby pictures" "Taking pictures of pregnant women" and I think a few portrait books that are available. Not all the books are inspiring though. I think it depends on photographer :P

"Taking pictures of pregnant women"? That sounds interesting. I've only done one maternity shoot, but I would like to do more. Please post back and let us know what you think of that one. Thanks in advance! |
