Just because you can use Photoshop in a Challenge does not mean you need to. I saw many shots in "Reflections Without Mirrors IV" that we're close to being ruined from over editing, that otherwise would have been extremely excellent shots. All subjective, but just what I think. Just for the record I am no Photoshop expert, but can see when an image has been degraded from being overworked. |

Perhaps posting your specific criticisms and concerns about an individual picture, rather than slinging mud over all the entries, would cause a less incendiary reaction. |

Isn't Reflections without Mirrors IV still in voting? Hold the discussion until after the results are in.

Is it permissible to flame on general principal? ;) |

Ok, blah blah blah, blah, blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah, blah...BLAH!
There, consider yourself officially flamed! :-) |

I would flame you wholeheartedly, but I'm feeling too apathetic today.

Doesn't Art have to get involved for it to be "official"?

I'm getting horrible flashbacks from the "Photoshop is not photography" thread... so let's call this another overdone thread on the same old topic, and all go back to something more important |

Art Roflmao is currently on Sabbatical. I'm not certain who he passed his torches and pitchforks to while away. ;) |

He has a valid point, though it is a very subjective thing. I will sometimes overwork a shot in an effort to get it perfect and then when I stand back and look at my handiwork I realize I ruined it by overprocessing. |

I was going to cover for him - but set light to the pitchfork by mistake . . it's clearly harder than it looks : ) |

I'm with yospiff on this one. This is a learning site after all, and in addition to learning technique I am hoping to develop some kind of judgment to keep up with it. |

I hope you go back and comment on every single one you think is overdone. Otherwise people who entered the challenge and sees this thread will think it doesn't apply to them. :) |

And I agree with jdannels. An excellent point. I'm looking forward to Dupree's comment on my entry, especially since I am not really satisfied with it myself! I could use a suggestion on how to improve it.
Hey, you already knew you would get flamed...

I dunno, but I have a nifty flamethrower. Shoots a high pressure stream of burning napalm at the target of your choice.
No pitchfork tho. Of course once the napalm burns out, there's really no need to stick a fork in it to see if it's done since it'll certainly be well beyond well done

12th, 23rd, and 27th are the three highest scoring pictures of which more than 50% is reflection. |

Mmmmk. And that has something to do with over-editing images? |

Dang, you beat me to it. So following the logic that photoshop IS photography, then more photoshop is BETTER photography?? :)

I made similar comments on a few shots. I think letting the photographer know your opinion is the most helpful thing to do.

I don't completely agree, but I know that there is a place to stop. Some just haven't learned yet.
