I applaud the sentiment, and appreciate all of the fine images this thread has brought (thanks to all for sharing)...but it just doesn't feel right for me to share images of my family with what are, essentially, anonymous strangers on the 'net. It's probably just me. Also, since I don't own a kick-ass studio, or a fancy set of lenses, it not the "stupid kid shot" of which I'm wary...it's the "crappy kid shot". :-P

Lol, did you SEE that bunch of grapes??!

I have many kid shots on DPC. It's not just for the challenges, but a way to let family and friends see them by just browsing the site.

My first entry and lowest score:

And then there's:
and

And my highest kid score (and only one above a 5.0

But then I have shots not entered in any challenge

My first entry in 9/2003 was of my son...
which scored me a whopping 3.9515. LOL

My scores haven't improved much over the years. This is my highest scoring image of my son...
score 5.6858

Here are the rest. Most scored in the 4's.

My daughter is a much more rare model, usually because I make her do stupid things like this...

...and she is my DQ

She's only made it into two other entries, both in the 4's.

Neither of those are determining factors... this was available light and a $70 lens:

...and this was taken with a Canon Powershot G2:

My daughter was definately the inspiration to me wanting to be a photographer. Out of 33 challenge entries since 2005 she's been in 9 including my first and a current one. My son's have been in some of the side challenges but only one challenge. Looking at the dates, I'd say my skills have improved, though my thinking still doesnt' jive with voters :)

First:
she's 10 months there Scored 4.4

Worst:
11 months, Scored 3.02 and you try holding a camera and a squirmy baby and taking pictures of your own feet!!!

Hardest:
scored 4.7

Best:
Almost 3 here scored 5.4

Latest:
Couple of weeks ago, not a challenge entry.

My favorite:
B&W Side Challenge

Other non challenge with all three (and more)

10/2004 (2 months)
12/2007
12/2007 First and only all family shot

Oh and get ready for this one!!! This is our grandson's mom, he's due 1/22/08 I'm sure you'll see more of him in the future.

So thanks to all of you for teaching and inspireing the rest of us to take better and better pictures of our lives.

Just to keep this thread going...

We do not have children, but my niece and nephew will certainly grow up on DPC:

As far as family shots my "kids" and my wife will always be my primary subjects.

The Kids:

My wife (who totally loathes having her picture taken, but is a great sport about it):

My grandchildren are certainly growing up on DPC. I've used all of them in challenges. I also go pick them up sometimes to go on "adventures" with grandma. Sometimes they tell me what to take pics of!

Let me say that I am so glad that this thread went the way it did. I love seeing the love in the pictures of our children. Don't ever stop entering pics of your kids - not even the crappy ones. Cause in the long run even the worst pic of our kid will stand up longer than the highest scoring glass shot or waterfall.

Over a year later she's still my favorite subject! =) Her little sister is arriving in May.

Bring on some more kids shots, folks!

You know I am a big fan of your kid images Jeff. Can't wait to see future shots of the new one coming.

Some from the past couple of months or so -

My Godson :)

7 minutes old, 5.09
2 weeks old, 5.8302...but I still think it should have scored higher
7 weeks old, 6.379 (Still one of my all time favs)
same shoot, 6.1048
15 weeks, 5.5205
4 months exactly, side challenge
5 months, 5.291
nearly 6 months, side challenge
1 year and 2 months, side challenge
same age, side challenge
1 year and 5 months, side challenge
1 year and 7 months, side challenge
1 year and 8 months, side challenge
1 year and 10 months, side challenge

I haven't entered him in a challenge in a whhhiiiillleee. I think I got tired of people giving my pics of him low scores...how could they??! lol. I'll suck it up and try to enter more of him soon. I also have a TON more photos of him that just haven't been uploaded yet. Prepare yourself for more babyness in the near future :)

I take more shots of my stepdaughter Sofia ( ScooterMcnutty) than I do my own kids since I only have my own twice a month:

Not that I don't have shots of my own:

Cool thread, you guys really do your kids justice! Isn't the general rule of thumb that kids don't score well :) Doesn't stop me though!

Here is my oldest Liam (now 6), 2005 to 2009

I've entered two of my youngest Sebastian (3)
