Bingo to Scarbird, honorable mention to Karmat. Carne Asada is a Mexican marinated steak dish. Every mexican restaurant in the world serves it :-)
R.
ETA: "asada" is "roasted" or "broiled" in Spanish...

Can't say I've ever been to a Mexican before, but I'm about to put that right in Texas this weekend ;-) |

There ya go! If you don't like really hot food, and do like meat, carne asada is always a safe bet in a Mexican restaurant; it's not very spicy, but it's vaguely exotic. Fajitas is gringo food, not really Mexican at all. Also look for "carnitas", "little meats", which is chunks of seasoned and slow-roasted pork served with tortillas, lime, onion, cilantro, and salsa; you "roll your own" and it's very good :-)

Oh I like hot, spicey hot, not sure how Mexican hot differs from Indian hot, but I'm willing to give it a try.
Thanks for the pointer Bear, I'm looking forward to this trip. |

Just have a fire extinguisher and telephone and you'll be alright.

If you like the really hot Indian curries etc, nothing the average Mexican restaurant throws at you is going to faze you. In most American Mexican joints, the heat is added at the table with the salsa. Be sure to ask for the special salsa if what you get on the table is too mild for you, as it very likely will be. Most places have a very strong house blend for afficionados.
