I think that the vegetable season will be over here in the morning. It is about midnight and the temperature is already around 35F. Today they harvested all of the tomatoes that they could get out of the fields in order to have some to sell when the market skyrockets next week. The market will be about double within 3 days or so. Anyone who has a field that makes it thru the freeze will have a great year. Farming is just gambling in slow motion.
I was busy all day today rigging generators for one of the greenhouse places where I do electrical work. They expect that the power may be off for a few hours tonight due to the cold causing everyone to run heaters and overloading the power grid in the area. They have to have power to keep the fans in the heaters going. The company has about 35 to 50 million seedlings in the 35 green houses now, so it would be expensive if they get frosted. I will post some pics of their greenhouses one day this month.
I will try to catch up on comments when things slow down a little, but right now it is hectic with work for me due to the weather.

the entrance to my house and the view from it sadly the razor wire is needed to keep the crimial element that is spoiling this lovely country out.

Day 2:

The pub we're currently managing in Ashford has some fantastic characters in it, and we've made some great friends. The gambling machines here are called 'fruit machines', so we've had to change our terminology from the 'pokies' at home! It's interesting how shiny things always attract people ;)

And, even better, it's SNOWING here today for the first time! How exciting. May have to go and try and capture some snowflakes for the Day 3 picture...

I'll take more local pictures tomorrow.

Oh my, I didn't realize how neat this is. I'm getting comments from you all. I'll have to make sure to keep up on the comments.

BTW, I finally got the pictures up from the Rose Parade Floats. Theses weren't taken at the Rose Parade, but at the float viewing afterwards. After the parade, they park the floats and people can view them up close. Pretty neat.

Enjoy the pictures. (Please don't take down my website with the traffic, we'll see how it lasts with traffic from DPC.)

Lots of comments are one of the best things about side challenges!

Here's my day 3:

This is Hildy, often to be found sitting on top of my head while I type. I prefer she sit on my shoulder so no hair has to be sacrificed for her entertainment, or even on the expensive playstand I bought her (which dominates the front hallway), but she likes to twine her toes in my hair and either hang off the side of my head or flap wildly so my hair can be used as some sort of swing. She is messy, loud, opinionated, and nothing like any other animal I've ever lived with. She is deeply attached to me (emotionally, not just with her claws :::grin:::) and has been since the first time I met her at the animal shelter last summer. She insisted I bring her home by flirting shamelessly and cuddling up to me whenever she saw me, apparently seeing clearly the word "sucker" tattooed on my forehead. She talks, she whistles, she plays games, she's jealous of the other animals, and she DEMANDS quite a bit of daily attention. I have already informed my son that when we die he'll inherit a whole lot of debt and one parrot ;-)

ETA: sorry; couldn't stand the blur so I re-shot ;-) Different room, much better light.

These are down by the beach. There is a river and nature preserve. The bridge is the one you drive over to get there. This is about 2 miles from my house. I didnt get out of the car, as it is -15 with the wind. During the summer this is blue and beautiful. The shot with the houses is the cove where the lobster boats buoy up.

Day 3

Here is my street ;)

I moved to this place back in August and we enjoy living in the City Centre. It is not cheap but we can just walk everywhere!!!

A five-minute walk over the fields. I love living near the country (estate agents would describe the location as 'semi-rural'). I love the fresh air. I only wish that I could bottle it and save it for when I'm feeling low.

Day 3

This morning I woke with a massive headache (gone now though), and struggled with getting the kids up and out the door for the first day of school after winter break. It's a pretty dreary and gloomy day outside (raining), so I don't feel to much like going out. So I treat you with 2 photo's from around the house since I don't want to venture out the door.

My front yard taken from my bedroom window.

Our puppy Bo, I think he has the right idea, a day for naps :).
