A monthy Free Study would be nice along with keeping the other challenges going too.

I hope you all are happy you got your Free Study. I still think it woulda been nice for it to be Basic Rules so we could all enter.

I think too many Free Study challenges will lessen the impact of each one. Every now and then it's good to shoot something you really like, but too many and people would just submit anything. Originality may be lost.

Look at how many entries in the Texture challenge. Imagine voting on a couple hundred entries. Most would get lost in the voting. Even given a couple of weeks to vote it would be very difficult.

I TOTALLY and COMPLETELY agree with this. Okay, so I'm kinda playing the devil's advocate here, but I haven't done any free studies yet. I am sure that if it was given EVERY month, it wouldn't have near the impact or quality even. I do think Free Studies every now and then are EXCELLENT ideas, but every month seems a little excessive. Possibly 1 every 2-3 months would be ideal. It should be a special treat I think, otherwise, it be taken for granted. This is just my opinion.

Wow I am really suprized that people here actually try to hunt and destory work that isn't already something thy currently are working with. I don't know I am not one to care I just find something I am working on already and submit that. I didn't realise everybody else was stickler for following the rules of warefare here. I guess from my thought from what I have seen here I thought for the most other than the really corn balled images of things like set up fake fights or images with ballons and knives to be korn balling the ideal lane up with trash. I guess if you follow a title that is what you get if you let yourself go and do what you do already find something and put it there why care. I vote for the best image forget the title especially when most of the images submitted in a contest don't seem to go along with what the contest said its looking for. As far as a monthly study I don't know why I guess you should be able to place your images in sort of like a porfolio for everyone to see. There are many different skill level of photography here how you meet with the challenges or who will be judged fairly that is something I think it best to be given equal power. Everyone just kind of be given numbers and a test as to where you are placed and into what skill level so well really people don't have to waste their time wading knee deep in the crap that gets placed here. You can choose what you want to view more readily especially this would be helpful when it comes to critiquing images here. Honestly I have to say its very hard to critique a lot of the images here based on technical ability or conceptual abilities of people since most of the images are not very well taken. I think some people see things differently so giving us the ability to decide what we want to view or vote on or even be able to critique here would be very helpful I think more people would get better responses to their work. Plus people would ultimately become better photographers if maybe they are inclined to such an event.
