I've already had lint problems [on my mirror/sensor/lens] should I be concerned? I just take off the lens and blow out the dust/lint but is this damaging?

I dont know about the 300d but the 10d manual recomends using a rubber blower. You can usually pick these up at camera shops.

Just make sure you use a blower thingy ma king, the little puffy kind. That way you can make sure you are spitting in it. Also, you may just be a bit overcareful since your camera is new (an expensive). Living in the same climate as you, and in a very dusty house, I have to clean the mirror and lens of my slr's every couple weeks. That's about all I know.

P.S. Rubber blower, that's what I was gettin at.

I got a lense cleaning pen for $10 that I really love. IT has a brush & a cleaner & it works really well. I wish I could find the link. Got it at B&H something.

the lens pens seem good for the lenses - I don't think I'd stick it anywhere near the sensor or mirror though...

i havent really noticed any lint/dust issues on mine, maybe the skylite filter, but thats what its there for...

i imagine i would notice some consistent marks on the photos if it was an issue...

i keep mine stored in a camera bag, and cover the lenses quickly with the caps when changing lenses, which i do a fair bit...

That's pretty detailed instruction, I'll keep that in mind if I ever get the nerve up to dismantle the sensor/parts

I now follow follow the method described by Nickolas R. and it works great! It takes a bit of nerve to do it the first time, but now I have no fear of cleaning my CCD.
