Caden, my seven-year-old, is just getting into Pokemon. I have a simple question. What is the best way to obtain energy cards? Are they only available in theme decks? They don't seem to be in booster packs, but I can't tell if there is another source for getting them to use.
Ah, brings me back to my Magic: The Gathering days... |

Let me know when you get the answers. :P
My 5 yr-old has picked up some of our teenagers neglected Pokemon cards and has been "playing Pokemon"...but I have no idea how it works (trying to figure out the various numbers, etc...).
I better figure it out soon! :) |

The main way to get energy cards is to buy theme decks, but you do get 1 or 2 energy cards in every booster pack, but that is various on what you want, so, in my opinion, I say figure out what kind of deck he wants to run, and then get the proper theme deck and use those energy cards.
this is her boyfriend, not her, shes not smart when it comes to this stuff so she came to me and i was happy to help you |

My wife and daughter collect the cards (neither play the game). If anyone wants some, I can probably talk them out of the extras.
I just need to clear it with "The Boss" first. *grin* The wife might want to swap cards though. She's got over 3,000 cards and has a binder that is only used to keep track of which ones she has/doesn't have. |

My 8 year old says "just get a structure deck" -> That seems to mean you throw money at a deck that includes some :-) He did not think you can buy ONLY energy card by themselves but I might have lost something in the translation to English by me :-)

These cards are crack.
I on the ohter hand have the much more mature "WORLD OF WARCRAFT" card game, which I justified just because the cards are done by artist I like. |

HAH, pokemon. I use to be a huge collector back in elementary school. I actually started the trend in grade 4 or 5? I don't really remember where to get energy cards, I think you can get them in those large decks. They usually have loads of them. Sometimes you can get them in booster packs. |

There are no simple questions (for adults) when it comes to Pokemon. ;-)
My son IsaacM88 has some experience with these (he's 10) and might be able to help -- you might try sending him a PM. |

My 9 year old was into Pokemon in K and 1st Grade, then it was Yu-Gi-Oh and now it is Naruto. He is showing an interest in Pokemon again. I think it is showing on television again. I don't know much about the game itself. |

They still make pokemon cards??? I thought the company went out of business years ago. Besides, the whole program is obviously a government ploy promoting communism or nuclear arms.

Hah i love WoW! simply the greatest PC game ever invented. I haven't been playing as much, my big bro mostly does. It's really quite addicting if you're a game nerd. |

Back onto the Pokemon Cards, I still have my collection, I wonder if I could sell them for anything. I'm sure i could get something for them, probably around 30-50 dollars. |

Yes, the great age of collectable card games is past. At one time I owned a complete set of Arabian Nights magic cards and sold them for $750. My fellow geek (and much younger friends) could not comprehend that half of that went to a vaccuum cleaner... :) |

My wife went through an eBay spree a while back and spent over $500 buying Pokemon cards. |

My sons (now 18) STILL have both English and Japanese complete sets of pokemon cards. I remember you used to get the power cards and stuff when you get the game set decks.. water set, electric set, fire set, earth set, you could only buy the actual pokemon monster cards seperate or in small packs.. Im pretty sure soon enough they will be worth a few bucks if kept in pristine condition, certain ones were worth way more than others even back then..

My son is sitting here reading this with me and he says he got his at Garage Sales. Come to think of it, we did buy a BIG box of cards for $10.00 at one of them. |

That's a ridiculous rumor. It's common knowledge that Pokemon were put here by satan to indoctrinate our youth into the occult and to get them to worship Picachu.
My son sold his for a pretty decent chunk of change at the peak of popularity (and before he started worshipping Picachu). He also sold his WoW character (shhh) for $200. Can you believe it?? |
