I guess I would ask what the focal point is? Is it the sunset or the people. The sunset is very overwhelming, I would 'tone down' the sunset and enlarge the people a tad.

Tone down the sunset just a little, it is a bit overpowering. Either feather the insets, or do cut outs and layer them over/around the sunset. The linear aspect of the insets takes away any interest, spread them out "randomly" without obscuring the sunset too much. Perform color balancing on each inset layer using red,green,and blue channels individually. Then flatten the entire project into a single image. Please, post the results.

| Mabey fade out the susset and use a transperent of the pictures on top. |

Are you projecting a stormy marriage for the two? I suppose I don't see the connection between the wedding photos, and the storm like sky. For a project like this you need something easily identified as connected. Maybe a blue sky with white fluffy clouds would be more appropriate, or something that's a little happier. That's my impression.
By the way, the way you laid out the wedding photos was 10x better in the second take then the first. Don't get me wrong here, I like the concept of the project, just not the background photo.

| Okay, this is an echo of previous posts. The wedding photos are delightful and ones they will cherish. It's always difficult to get candid wedding photos and you did well. But you might not want the sun to set on their marriage right away. So a nice upbeat but extremely simple background would work well. Or think about an alternate: such as filling in the background with flowers. Good luck. |

Much better, but if you want to use this, try a large feather on the cutouts instead of changing their opacity. That way they will seem to float on top of the sunset. I agree with sfalice, try something entirely different for the background. Maybe even a shot of the ceremony from behind the happy couple.

Not only is the sunset distracting, the combination of color and b&w photos is as well. To me it just looks out of place. You might even try sepia toning the whole thing, after you have arranged the pictures. Softening the edges is also a must.

| How about using a picture of the church, or another one of the weding photos as a background pic. |

Ok. Remember that you asked for it.
[1] Use only one photo from the marriage
[2] The circle is good then why not putting it on the centre of the image?
[3] Use a gradient that makes the marriage's photo fit in the color scheme of the sunset.
[4] partially hide the marriage's photo with the line of clouds just in the middle of the pic.
Basically, it should transmit the feeling that the couple (and the marriage) is the sun behind the clouds.
I have been told that somebody actually believes it. |
