Hi,
how can i overcome the noise problem?
i tried different ISO's... but still - the photos are grainy.

You might have reached the limit with your camera. Outstanding control of noise at higher ISOs is pretty much the domain of mid- to higher-level dSLRs. |

hmm,
the sample photos at dpreview and/or at canon's site are not so grainy... |

Were the photos taken in low light? Can you post an example? |

Also, were you using the optical zoom or the digital zoom?
The canon A and S series cameras really don't do well in low light and noise is a significant issue. |
