Hii...
I am new to digital photography...and am seriously trying to learn the techniques fast...so that I can start participating in the challenges soon. In the interview section, the people suggested that beginners should start out by learning the 'adjustments' tool. I have started doing so..but I was wondering whether that was sufficient or I needed to learn some more. And is it better that I start participating and learn along the way, or learn to use the tools properly and then start participating. |

This would be my suggestion. Otherwise you might never enter. Find pics you like and see if they list their editing details. Ask questions through PM's - you will find most people very helpful. And experiment, experiment, experiment. But most of all have fun! |

I would suggest you learn to use levels and contrast adjustments - then start entering...the rest you can learn as you go. There are a zillion websites about retouching and PhotoShop - check out a few a week and you'll be a pro in no time.

Also, go to the Learn menu item at the top of the page here and read through the tutorials. There are some great step-by-step guides in there to show how to achieve some specific results. Good luck!
